Eliica
The name Eliica is short for Electric Lithium Ion battery Car. If you can believe it, this electric car is a professor-students creation. A research project, though they have great dreams of bringing it into the market. Made in Japan, Professor Hiroshi Shimizu, of Japan's Keio University and team have done a brilliant job here.
The car's eight wheels have independent electric motors which work together. The magazine reports instant 0.8 G acceleration from the electric car. With an ultra - low centre of gravity, the Eliica hugs the road, and the eight wheels provide terrific grip.
The supercar goes from zero to 60 in 4.2 seconds, has a top speed of 230 miles an hour. The ultra-luxury vehicle features sports gull-style wings and eight wheels and carries a price tag of $260,000 .
The Eliica is just over five metres long, bullet-shaped, and runs on eight wheels and carries its batteries, software and motors in a narrow chassis, giving it a low centre of gravity. When you release the brake, push the 'Drive' button, and floor the accelerator, the result is a smooth, rapid acceleration that has been described as 'neck-snapping'. It's performance rivals that of high-end gasoline-powered sports cars.
